"House of Blues Presents
Megadeth and Endo"
By Revn Kevin
I don't know what is going on in Florida but they keep pumping out great Hardcore bands one right after the other and tonight "Endo" opened for veteran rockers Megadeth. Hailing out of Miami and touring in support of their new Columbia release "Evolve", the band consists of Gil Bitton/vocals, Eli Parker/guitar, Zelick/bass and Joe Eshkenazi/drums. Songs like "Malice" and "Leave Us Alone" takes Endo's mix of hip-hop, thrash, and techno to new highs of tension and schizophrenic frenzy. This fuels Bitton's exorcism-in-progress vocals, leading him on to spit out rapped tirades, pushing the sound to new levels of insane intensity. The audience was a little slow to respond but by the end of the set the mosh pits had started. I spoke briefly with the band after the show and found them to be honest and personable guys who are having the experience of a lifetime on this tour. By the time Megadeth hit the stage the crowd was so thick you could walk across their heads. The band this time around consists of original founders Dave Mustaine/vocals, guitar, and Dave Ellefson/bass, along with Jimmy DeGrasso/drums and new to the fold was Al Petrelli who shared guitar duties with Mega Dave. The set, as I understand, was chosen by the fans through a contest on the bands web site and was their best that I can remember. Song favorites of mine played tonight were "Symphony of Destruction", "Train of Consequences", along with some of the newer songs like "Motopsycho" and "Kill the King". The band played a solid 2 hour set of nothing but hits along with some lively crowd banter by Dave who declared that "Osama was lucky he didn't know how to fly a plane". Bands in attendance should take lessons on lighting and band member movement as these pros know how to use it to make the show exciting and with a full arsenal of guitars being played the crowd had plenty to look at. Crowd Surfing and Moshing along with Chorus sing alongs were the order of the night and the band didn't let up until everybody was exhausted. A couple of encores later the crowd filed out into the street talking about what a kick ass show it was, and indeed it was. Check out these bands new release "Motopsycho" and their web site
