The Scorpions with
Tesla and Keith Emersen
at Universal Amphitheatre
By Revn Kevin
I can think of no better way then to spend part of my Thanksgiving holiday rocking with the Scorpions down at Universal Amphitheatre. With my belly still full with turkey and fixins I headed over the hill to see one of the greatest rock bands of all time.
Armed with a new CD, "Unbreakable", and sporting a new bass player, Pawel Maciwoda, the Scorps have embarked on a worldwide tour bringing their musical visions to the masses. I love a Scorpions crowd. The fans come in all ages, shapes, sizes and genders and truly get into the mood of the concert. As always the show was full of fun and energy. A fan handed vocalist Klaus their cell phone and the lucky person on the other end got serenaded with the classic hit "No One Like You". For a full 2 hours the Scorps hit you with lots of the new material and yet pulled out of their musical library tons of past hits. I paid particular attention to the new bass player, Pawel and can say that he brings a little more energy and feel to band. The Scorpions have been rocking us for over 30 years and are living up to the title of their latest effort, proving that they are truly and Unbreakable force in rock. Log on to www.the-scorpions.com and find out all the history of this phenomenal band.
A recently reunited Tesla was on the bill tonight in support of their latest effort "Into the Now" which features the great new single "Caught in a Dream". The band was smoking, literally. It seemed like everybody had a cigarette in his lips at the start of the show. The bands hiatus didn't seem to affect their performance, as they were tight and rocked hard from start to finish. Now if you want to catch up on the latest Tesla news then head over to their website at www.teslatheband.com. There you'll find song samples, pictures, info and everything else Tesla related.
I arrived early and was pleased to find opening act Keith Emersen, formerly of Emersen, Lake and Palmer just getting started. I had no info about what Keith has been up to since the demise E.L.P. so I jumped on the web and located www.keithemersen.com. Here I learned that he has numerous solo efforts and got to open at selected Scorps shows. Keith has enlisted Dave Kilmister, an awesome guitarist/vocalist and their music consisted of lots of instrumental jams mixed with bluesy type rockers. I enjoyed the set immensely and if you are a fan of Keith Emersen then go check out the website
