Worldfest 2002 at Woodley Park

I can hardly keep up with all the events I attend and was cleaning out my camera bag the other day and found some literature from an event called Worldfest. It's a once-a-year all day event with vendors displaying everything from health food for your pet to solar power products for your home. You could get information from anti-war activists or get a massage from Chinese refugees. There were numerous animal shelters represented and an abundant number of booths selling T-shirts and cruel free clothing (non-leather). A large food court served a variety of Vegan dishes and I even enjoyed some awesome vegan ice cream (Soy-Delicious). I have never seen so large a group of health oriented vendors in one place a one time--I could feel myself getting healthier just by being there.

Of course you know if I'm there then there has to be music involved. All day long a wide variety of acts played on three different stages and on the main stage guest speakers gave speeches. Some of the health and environment conscious guest speakers included actress Linda Blair and actor Ed Begley Jr., N.B.A. star John Salley and even Rikki Rockett of Poison fame was there to make a speech on behalf of his support for various animal issues.

The Larrys

Anti War Sign

Musical acts ranged from the nu-metal sounds of Uno to the alternative sounds of rocker Jillian Spear. Blues crooner Alana Davis turned in a great performance and one of my favorite acts of the day were the clown rockers The Larrys. The event was held at Woodley Park in Van Nuys and it was a beautiful day with a tremendous fun atmosphere in the air. I totally enjoyed the day and look forward to coming back. If you are interested in health, environmental and animal issues then I encourage you to visit these sites www.worldfestevents.com, www.animalsvoice.com, and www.vegsource.com for information. Then make time to come out to the event next year and see what it is all about.
